Job description
This position fills a new role to work alongside the Systems Manager to provide IT support for the company's activities.
If you are an 'all-rounder' that has a broad spectrum of IT knowledge and can apply your skills to solve technical problems efficiently and effectively, this is an exciting opportunity to develop the IT strategy of a young and growing company.
While the core services of the company are focused on medical device regulation, you will be involved in decision making for the development of IT solutions that are integral to the functioning of these services.
Essential requirements
- Previous experience in an IT support role
- Lateral thinking for identifying and solving problems
- Ability to work independently and as a part of the team
- Familiarity with Google Workspace and Microsoft services
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in English
- Legal right to work in the UK
This role requires a friendly person who can support colleagues and clients with their day-to-day computing issues. It is flexible for both on-site and remote working, but because travel to company HQ near Sheffield will be required on a weekly basis, we are only offering the role to UK-based applicants.
Full training of our existing IT structure will be provided and the successful applicant will work alongside the Systems Manager.
Key tasks
- System setup & management
- Setup, monitoring and updating new/ existing IT systems
- IT strategy development
- Work with the Systems Manager to develop the IT strategy always with security in mind
- Product development
- Working within the company to collaboratively design and build new client-facing regulatory products, along with internal software solutions to drive efficiency
- Software & hardware curation
- Understanding/ research of IT hardware, software and cloud-based systems with the ability to systematically select the best solution based on requirements
- Helpdesk support
- Responding to and resolving staff, sub-contractors and customer IT problems
- Remote support strategy
- Resolution of problems remotely in a secure and efficient manner
- New staff onboarding
- Setting up and guiding new staff on our existing IT systems
- Policy writing
- Producing and updating documents outlining IT procedures
- IT equipment management
- Manage existing IT equipment and future procurement
